Guarded

Guarded Terms of Service

Last updated: 24 July 2026. Version 1.0.

1. What Guarded is

Guarded connects to your bank with your permission, reads your transactions, and shows you

what you have spent on gambling platforms and what you have kept since. It is an

informational tool.

Guarded is not a gambling blocker. It cannot stop a transaction, decline a card, or

prevent you from placing a bet. It reads only. If you need charges actually blocked, that

control sits with your bank or card issuer.

Guarded is not medical care, therapy, or financial advice. It does not diagnose or

treat anything. If gambling is harming you, please talk to someone qualified. In the US,

the National Problem Gambling Helpline is 1-800-522-4700, free and confidential, 24/7.

2. Who can use it

You must be 18 or older. You must be a US resident with a US bank account. You may only

connect accounts you own and are authorised to access.

3. Your account

Keep your sign-in secure and tell us promptly if you think someone else has access. You are

responsible for activity under your account.

4. Bank connections

You connect your bank through Plaid. By connecting, you authorise us to receive your

transaction data through Plaid and to use it as described in our Privacy Policy. Plaid's

own terms and privacy policy also apply to that connection.

You can disconnect at any time in Profile. Disconnecting stops new data immediately.

5. Accuracy, stated honestly

We try hard to be accurate, and we would rather show you nothing than show you something

wrong. But:

how they describe a charge. Some money movement, especially transfers between people, we

cannot see past at all, and the app tells you where that is the case.

they appear on a statement. We may miss charges, and we may occasionally flag something

that was not gambling. When we are unsure we ask you rather than guess.

rely on them for tax, legal, or accounting purposes.**

6. What you agree not to do

Do not use Guarded to access accounts that are not yours, attempt to breach or probe its

security, scrape or resell its content, reverse engineer it, or use it to build a competing

dataset.

7. Our content

The app, its design, its text, and the merchant intelligence behind it belong to us. You

get a personal, non-transferable licence to use the app. Your data remains yours.

8. Changes to the service

We may change or discontinue features. If we make a material change to these terms, we will

raise the version and ask you to accept it again before you continue.

9. Ending it

You can delete your account at any time in Profile, which deletes your data as described in

the Privacy Policy. We may suspend or end access if you breach these terms or if we are

required to.

10. Disclaimers

The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind to the

fullest extent the law allows, including any warranty of merchantability, fitness for a

particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental,

special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, or gambling

losses. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of the amount you paid

us in the twelve months before the claim, or one hundred US dollars. Guarded is currently

free, so in most cases that figure is one hundred dollars.

Some states do not allow these limits, in which case they apply only as far as the law

permits.

12. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify us against claims arising from your misuse of the service or breach

of these terms.

13. Disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to conflict

of law rules.

*(Placeholder: arbitration clause, class-action waiver, and venue to be settled with

counsel. These are the provisions most often struck down when drafted carelessly, and are

deliberately not invented here.)*

14. Contact

The contact address in the App Store listing, or via Profile in the app.
